that are no longer in print. Thanks
to gifts and annual purchases, the collection continues to grow.
Library
Lending Policies
Qualifications: Members
in good standing may borrow circulating materials from the Helen
Woodman Library. A current membership card
must be shown when checking out books.
Check-out
Procedure: To check out one of the items from the
collection, contact the CHG Librarian at
any regular guild meeting. Items cannot
be checked out or returned between meetings, unless the member is moving.
In this case, the member should contact the librarian who will
make arrangements to collect the material.
Lending
Period
and Renewal: Books may be borrowed until the
next regular meeting; however, books may be renewed for one
additional month. If you are unable to attend a guild
meeting, library books and magazines may be renewed by sending
a written request
to the CHG Librarian prior to the
due date.
Reserves: Books
on the library list that are currently checked out may be placed
on reserve. A book on reserve may not be renewed.

Property
Rentals
 |
How
to Rent: The renter must have been a member
of the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild for at least 6 months before
renting equipment. Qualified members should contact
the Property Chairman or a committee member before or after CHG
meetings and fill
out the necessary paper work. Rental
arrangements cannot be made between meetings.
Rental
Period:
Most properties are available for rental to qualified members for up
to three months during the guild year. Under the "Open Studio" rules,
large looms and other non-portable equipment may be rented weekly
but must remain on the property at the North Dekalb
Cultural Center.
If there is no waiting list for the rented item, it may be rented
again;
however,
any
property
may be called in for use during a CHG class or workshop.
Classes
and Workshops: Use of equipment is included
in all class fees and extends to the end of that class schedule.
Please see Workshop
Loom Use for
the policy on equipment usage for workshops. Workshop participants
and students using equipment during classes who are unable to
complete
their work on schedule may finish their work under the "Open
Studio" rules or rent the equipment in use, unless
it has been
reserved
for
another
use.
More
Information: Please see the rental
policy for more information on
fees, the responsibilities
of the renter, and the responsibilities of CHG. A list of all properties
and their respective rental fees can be found on the Members-Only page
or through the Properties Chairman.

Standards
and Ratings
 |
The Standards
and Ratings Program is designed to give members a structured study
guide and to set standards by which they can measure their progress
as weavers and as craftsmen. Applicants
are provided with a booklet containing the requirements for the rating,
instructions for submission of work, definitions of terms, a guild
mentor list, and weaving reference list. Applications are accepted September
through November, and the work must be completed by May so the judging
can be conducted over the summer.
The
guild awards certificates on three levels: Apprentice, Journeyman,
and
Master. Please see Standards and Ratings for
more details on the application and evaluation process and the
criteria for the three
levels, and Certificates Awarded for a list of members who have
earned certificates.

Study
Groups
 |
Members who share a common interest in a specific area
frequently form study groups which meet separately from the regular
CHG meetings. Study groups choose a leader, set up regular meeting
times and places, and meet to share, research, work, plan, and encourage
each other. Groups set goals and deadlines to keep the work of the
group focused, sometimes divide into subgroups to research related
topics, and, at the end of their focus, share weaving records, fabric
samples, and bibliographies.
