Class
Structure: A
wide variety of weaving and other fiber arts classes
are taught throughout the year. Hands-on
classes provide a relaxed
pace of study over several weeks for both the public
and CHG members. The classes are taught by CHG
faculty members
and recognized community artists who have proven
their ability in
the medium or technique as well as the ability to
teach. Some
classes require a prerequisite basic knowledge, but
beginner classes are always available. Classes
are offered on weekdays, evenings, and weekends,
and some are approved for Georgia
Department of Education PLU Credit.
Materials: Looms and
other major equipment are included in the
class fee, but students are often asked to
pay a nominal materials fee to the instructor
on the first day of class.
Fees: Please see current
class schedule for details
on individual classes.
Registration: Registration
deadline is one week before class begins, unless
otherwise indicated. Students are accepted on a first-come
basis, based on receipt of payment. You will not
receive a written confirmation of your registration - your
canceled
check
is proof of
registration.
Cancellation: You
may cancel in writing until the registration
deadline. Your class fee will be refunded, minus a $5
processing fee. Fees cannot be refunded for registrations canceled
after the deadline. If CHG cancels your class, we will contact
you by phone before the first scheduled class meeting. Your class
fee will be refunded in full.
Location: Most
classes are taught in Room 1 at the North DeKalb Cultural Center
5339 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA, 30338.

March 2008 Workshop
“Designing with the Three T’s—Threading, Tie-Up, and Treadling” will help you create original designs using words, numbers, music, amalgamation and networking. Use your designs in your treadling and threading and watch the magic happen! You will also have an opportunity to take your favorite design, weave it as shibori on a pre-warped loom and then dye your piece in an indigo dye vat. This is an on-loom workshop for 4-shaft and 8-shaft looms, and it will be limited to 16 participants. “Designing with the Three T’s” is filling up fast, so send in your registration form today. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity two learn from our in-house talent-- Judith Krone and Jo Marie Karst. |
Workshop
Structure: Three CHG-sponsored workshops are offered
each year, including at least
one by a nationally known fiber artist. These provide an
intensive study of a specific technique over a short period
of time (several
days). Students are often required to do some prepatory
work, such as warping looms or winding skeins.
Materials: Students
are often asked to bring easily obtainable supplies and pay nominal
fees for specific material to the instructor on the first day
of the workshop. Looms and other equipment are not included in
the fee.
Equipment
Usage: Qualified
members can contact the Properties
Chairman to reserve looms and other equipment,
with advance notice.
Registration: CHG
members are given priority for workshop registration. If
there is space available after current members have registered,
others from the
community may join the guild to take advantage of these workshops.
Location: Unless
otherwise indicated, most workshops are held at the North
DeKalb Cultural Center 5339 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road,
Atlanta,
GA,
30338.

that are offered several times during the year. These mini-workshops
are usually held in the afternoon after a CHG Meeting. Mini-workshops
are generally taught by volunteers and cover a wide range of topics.
We're always on the lookout for new topics and teachers for mini
