Exhibitions

CHG photoThe Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild sponsors an exhibition every year.  In odd-numbered years, CHG hosts the juried Southeast Fiber Arts Show.  In even-numbered years, CHG holds an exhibition which is open only to CHG members.

The Margaret Mott Award is presented at CHG’s Members' Show to a Guild member whose work has never been exhibited in a juried show, and whose entry is handwoven and entirely executed by the recipient.  This award has been presented at every Member’s Show since 1992.  Visit Members Only to view the list of past Margaret Mott Award winners.

2012 CHG Member's Exhibit
Creative Obsessions

May 5 - May 27, 2012
Opening reception: Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 7-9 pm
Unitarian Universalist Church of Atlanta

It's time to start thinking about your entries for the CHG Member's Exhibit! Open to all CHG members, beginners to experts, this is your chance to show off what you've created since the 2010 Member's Exhibit.

CHG members in attendance at the opening reception will be invited to vote on a favorite piece in each category as described below.

  • Functional:  Table linens such as placemats, table runners, rugs, pillows, curtains, upholstery, bedding, throws, baskets, caned furniture, etc.
  • Decorative:  Tapestry, wall hangings, framed work, 3-dimensional art (fiber sculpture), etc.
  • Wearable:  Vests, jackets, coats, dresses, skirts, tops, blouses, shirts, pants, children's clothing, ruanas, etc.
  • Accessories:  Scarves, shawls, hats, purses, belts, shoes, jewelry, etc.
  • Best of More:  Any piece woven on more than 4 harnesses.

The Margaret Mott award will also be presented to a CHG member who has never exhibited in a juried show or won an award at a CHG Member's show, and  who shows notable potential.  The item must be hand-woven and entirely executed by the recipient.

So, sign up for a class, take a workshop, or check a book out of the CHG library for inspiration, then start weaving. May will be here before you know it!
